One of the biggest blessings in my life has been the fact that I was able to grow up knowing not only both sets of my grandparents, but also two sets of great grandparents.

Throughout my college years, I got the chance to visit my great grandma Vera multiple times before she passed away my last year of graduate school. The thing that stood out to me so clearly about her was her relationship with God. I always knew that she prayed for me, by name, every day. I also knew that she loved God with her whole heart. I remember visiting her, just before she died at 104 years of age, and all she wanted those couple days I was there was for me to read the Psalms to her and to pray.

When I read Isaiah 46:4, I think of my great grandma Vera. She truly believed and lived out this Scripture. She knew that her God would carry her through, that every step of the way He was with her.

This verse is a promise to all of us, no matter what stage of life we are in. The God who was there at our creation is saying that He will be there next to us, sustaining us throughout our lives, all the way until our heads are covered in gray hairs.
