There are few things in life in which we can be truly confident.

The word “confidence” used in this verse denotes a type of boldness and unreserved declaration. If we think about it, most of us have plenty of things of which we are fairly certain, but far fewer in which we are confident.

Children can teach us much about spiritual things. Confidence is no exception.

If you spend any amount of time with children, you quickly learn that they have a confidence many of us adults have lost. They state things as fact without a second thought, without any doubting.

Maybe this is one of the reasons why Jesus compared those in the kingdom of God to children in Luke 18:16. His kingdom is one of confidence, not of doubt.

Children hold fast to their confidence as we should hold fast to ours. Hebrews 3:6 tells us that if we would hold onto our confidence, if we unreservedly declare our faith, then we will be rewarded.

Our reward is not material. Rather, it is being a part of the family of God. When we openly proclaim our faith, God will come dwell within our hearts and keep us secure in Him until that day that our faith and confidence are confirmed when He returns.
