Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to the LORD, and said, “I will sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea. The LORD is my strength and song. He has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him; my father’s God, and I will exalt him.”
Imagine the joy the Israelites must have felt as they left Egypt, their wonder at seeing God’s Presence go before them in a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night.
Imagine their horror when they saw Pharaoh’s army marching toward them. With the Red Sea in front, and Pharaoh’s forces behind, there seemed to be no way out.
I can’t blame them for being scared.
When we come to the “Red Seas” in our lives, it can be easy to react like the ancient Israelites. When stuck between a rock and a hard place, we tend to ask, “what am I going to do?” and forget that God is in control.
But before the problem even arose, He had a solution.
We may not always understand why we have problems, but each new trial is an opportunity to trust God more and let Him work in and through us for good. That is why we praise Him!
The next time you face a sea of problems with an army of worries behind you, remember that God is still in the business of splitting seas. Trust His leading presence to get you through whatever challenges you’re facing today, and you’ll come out singing His praises on the other side.
What “Red Sea” am I facing right now? What “army” pursues me, hoping to destroy me? In what ways can I remind myself that God is in control and able to get me through this situation?
Dear Lord, Thank You for being with me through the hardest moments of my life. I praise You for Your faithfulness, Your guidance, and Your goodness. Bless the Lord, oh my soul! In Jesus’ name, I pray and praise, Amen.
