The Bible tells us stories of those who persevere, overcome challenges, and refuse to give up as they follow where God leads. Noah, Moses, Esther, Ruth, David, Job, Daniel, Hosea, Jeremiah, John the Baptist, Nicodemus, Peter, Paul, and so many more demonstrate the merits of perseverance.

Our lives, like the lives of the faithful ones in Scripture, require perseverance. Jesus Himself, the ultimate example of divine perseverance, is always willing to bless those who ask Him. Take heart! With Jesus, you can endure to the end.

The perseverance of Jesus Christ is my example

Hebrews 12:1, 3

Therefore let’s also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let’s run with perseverance the race that is set before us. For consider him who has endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, that you don’t grow weary, fainting in your souls.

God rewarded Jacob’s perseverance

Genesis 32:25-26

When he saw that he didn’t prevail against him, the man touched the hollow of his thigh, and the hollow of Jacob’s thigh was strained as he wrestled. The man said, “Let me go, for the day breaks.” Jacob said, “I won’t let you go unless you bless me.”
