Bible verses about
Prayer

“Teach us to pray,” the disciples begged Jesus. And, like the loving Friend He is, Jesus granted their request (Matthew 6:9-13; also Luke 11:1-4).

What is prayer? Is it a conversation between two friends? A petition for justice? A cry for help? A shout of praise? Yes! Prayer is all of this and so much more. Prayer enables us to communicate with the God of the universe. Praise His name — He hears and answers!

Pray in Jesus’ name to receive joyous gifts from God

John 16:24

Until now, you have asked nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be made full.

Prayer brings God’s gifts

Agreement with other believers strengthens my prayers

Matthew 18:19-20

God is ready to answer my prayers in an instant

Pray consistently

Luke 11:9-10

God hears my prayers

Psalm 145:18-20

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the LORD, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You shall seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.”
