My two-year old daughter loved horses.

That Christmas, I went looking for a giant, stuffed, pink pony she had pointed out. After several phone calls and a few hours of driving, I found one I could afford.

Christmas morning, she ran into the den and fell on that pony like it was pirate’s treasure. She embraced him, full body, and lay there, tears in her eyes. For years that pink pony afforded imaginary horseback riding during the day and was a comforting friend at night. He began her adoration for all things horse-related.

Horses were in her drawings. We spent weekends visiting horse stables, horse shows, and taking pony rides. Then, a few years ago, though still enamored with horses, she passed that pink pony on to her little sister. Now her sister treats him with the same love she’s witnessed all her life.

When you’re in love with a great, pink pony, people notice. It’s life changing. It’s infectious.

The salvation God offers the world is like that. Perhaps not everyone has space for it. But for those that do, those that embrace Him with their lives, they get to take part in a great love for all their lives and eternity too.
