What if today were your last day on Earth?

What would you do and say? If you were anticipating an eternity with God, you’d probably reflect on your life and think about all the ways you’d want to use your words and actions for your final 24 hours to point others to Christ.

But what if today weren’t your last day?

Would you still live in gratitude to God? How?

Sometimes, in the rat race of life, we don’t stop and reflect on what really matters. We’re always on the go and we miss out on opportunities to live in gratitude.

In Colossians 3:17, the Apostle Paul encourages his readers to live a Christ-centered life rooted in gratitude toward God.

Paul makes no separation between sacred and secular when he writes, “whatever you do, in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus.”

What does it mean to do everything in the name of Jesus?

It means our actions should fall under the approval and Lordship of Jesus, even in the mundane activities of life. According to Paul, living under Christ’s authority is an act of gratitude to God. This is good news because it’s encouraging to know that we can live lives of gratitude unto God as we grow and thrive under the approval of Jesus Christ.
