Comfort and Confidence

Romans 8:31-34
What then shall we say about these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who didn’t spare his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how would he not also with him freely give us all things? Who could bring a charge against God’s chosen ones? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
Have you ever made a mistake you think is so bad that God will not save you?
Maybe you believe that salvation isn’t for everyone else, and you do not have a chance to be saved, but that’s not what the Bible says.
Scripture promises that God gave his Son for you and He will not hold salvation from you. Christ gave his life for you, not to condemn you.
Through Christ, God has acquitted us and removed our sin and guilt. It is Satan, not God, who accuses us. Jesus sits at God’s right hand in our defense. Jesus died to become our advocate before God.
We do not have free rein to do whatever we wish with no consequences. We must strive to make decisions that will make Christ proud of us.
Satan, the prince of our world, tempts us to make mistakes. We must not only believe in Christ but also strive to stay in a positive relationship with Him.
A positive relationship with Christ gives us the strength to overpower Satan and make good choices in our lives.
This scripture and the entire book of Romans explains God’s redeeming grace. It may be read as a letter of comfort and confidence just for you. Our mistakes are forgiven by God’s Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is time we forgive ourselves and love the world around us.
Reflection
Of what condemning charges does the Tempter continually remind me? What techniques will I use to help me remember to return to this verse to refute the Devil’s claims?

Dear God. Thank You for Christ, my advocate Who brings me freedom. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen!
