I own my home. I have two vehicles. Once I owned a motorcycle and a bass boat. All of these things are worldly possessions.

My house won’t last forever. The cars will rust away and end up in a junk yard. I quickly lost interest in the motorcycle and boat.

We go through our lives trying to fill a void, but never becoming satisfied.

We constantly look to the next best thing. When we get it, we still want more. We search for the next best job, or we stray from those we love to someone we think is better.

I remember when I decided to believe Jesus when He said, “I am the bread of Life. Whoever comes to me will not be hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.”

My hunger for things evaporated. The importance of the worldly possessions faded away. I traded in a 4x4 pickup for a van so we could take our grandchildren to church.

Once I realized that God gave His Son to pay our price and die our death, the focus of my life changed. As Scripture says, “This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, that anyone may eat of it and not die” (John 6:50 WEB).
