The origins of Valentine’s Day, celebrated worldwide by lovers every February 14, are lost to legend.
One legend holds that a priest named Valentine performed weddings for young soldiers in defiance of a law mandating that soldiers be single. Another legend suggests that Valentine was martyred for helping Christians escape brutal persecution.
Regardless of how Valentine’s Day began, it is now a universal celebration of love. As a child of God, revel in the knowledge that He loves YOU more than humanly possible — today, and every day.
My life is a living Valentine to God
You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men, being revealed that you are a letter of Christ, served by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tablets of stone, but in tablets that are hearts of flesh.
True love is a mutual affair
My beloved has gone down to his garden, to the beds of spices, to pasture his flock in the gardens, and to gather lilies. I am my beloved’s, and my beloved is mine. He browses among the lilies.
God’s love for me is so great, He calls me His child
See how great a love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God! For this cause the world doesn’t know us, because it didn’t know him.
Romantic love can be intoxicating
Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth; for your love is better than wine.
God is love; love originates with God
We know and have believed the love which God has for us. God is love, and he who remains in love remains in God, and God remains in him.
Love endures
Jacob served seven years for Rachel. They seemed to him but a few days, for the love he had for her.
God loves and appreciates my heart-felt gifts
Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
God knows my desires
Also delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.
Love is the greatest emotion
But now faith, hope, and love remain—these three. The greatest of these is love.
Love defies comprehension
There are three things which are too amazing for me, four which I don’t understand: The way of an eagle in the air, the way of a serpent on a rock, the way of a ship in the middle of the sea, and the way of a man with a maiden.
