The Seventh Psalm: Prayers for Justice

When I am treated unjustly in my work or relationships, I am frustrated, for there seems to be no way out. These are the times I like to read and dig deep into Psalm 7, for it is an earnest prayer of justice.
Together with the psalmist, I can pray to God for justice, requesting deliverance from my enemy, who threatens me like a vicious lion (Psalm 7:2).
God, save me from being mauled by my enemies
Psalm 7:1-2
LORD my God, I take refuge in you. Save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me, lest they tear apart my soul like a lion, ripping it in pieces, while there is no one to deliver.
Lord, stand up against the fury of my enemies and bring justice
Psalm 7:6
Arise, LORD, in your anger. Lift up yourself against the rage of my adversaries. Awake for me. You have commanded judgment.
Lord, judge me for I am innocent
Psalm 7:8
The LORD administers judgment to the peoples. Judge me, LORD, according to my righteousness, and to my integrity that is in me.
God, please end the evil of the wicked and defend the righteous
Psalm 7:9
Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous; their minds and hearts are searched by the righteous God.
God, You are my shield and an honest Judge, save the righteous people
Psalm 7:10-11
My shield is with God, who saves the upright in heart. God is a righteous judge, yes, a God who has indignation every day.
God, help me repent
Psalm 7:12-13
If a man doesn’t repent, he will sharpen his sword; he has bent and strung his bow. He has also prepared for himself the instruments of death. He makes ready his flaming arrows.
I thank You Lord, and praise You, for You are the God of justice
Psalm 7:14-17
Behold, he travails with iniquity. Yes, he has conceived mischief, and brought out falsehood. He has dug a hole, and has fallen into the pit which he made. The trouble he causes shall return to his own head. His violence shall come down on the crown of his own head. I will give thanks to the LORD according to his righteousness, and will sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High.
