God gave us Sabbath to have close fellowship with Him. He blessed the Sabbath, He rested during it, and He made it holy.

God made the Sabbath for humanity. It is good to do good on the Sabbath day. Jesus Christ, as well as all of God’s faithful friends, kept the Sabbath holy.

I, too, will faithfully keep the Sabbath as a day set apart to glorify the Creator God, enjoying the abundant blessings He promised those who honor His day.

God created the earth during the first six days and celebrated it on Sabbath

Exodus 20:8-11

Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. You shall labor six days, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. You shall not do any work in it, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your livestock, nor your stranger who is within your gates; for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and made it holy.

The Sabbath was made to meet the need of people, not vice versa

Mark 2:27

He said to them, “The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.”

God blessed the Sabbath, declared it holy, and rested from all His work of creation

Genesis 2:3

God blessed the seventh day, and made it holy, because he rested in it from all his work of creation which he had done.

On Sabbath, I do not pursue my own interest, but I enjoy the rewards it brings

Isaiah 58:13-14

Sabbath is a sign between God and me

Ezekiel 20:12

Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.

Jesus kept the Sabbath; He is my example

Luke 4:16

He came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up. He entered, as was his custom, into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.

Jeremiah described God’s blessings to faithful Sabbath keepers

Jeremiah 17:24-25

“It will happen, if you diligently listen to me,” says the LORD, “to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day, but to make the Sabbath day holy, to do no work therein; then there will enter in by the gates of this city kings and princes sitting on David’s throne, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and this city will remain forever.”

I keep the Sabbath because it is a holy day for me

Exodus 31:14

You shall keep the Sabbath therefore, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
