Group projects can go one of two ways.

In every group project I’ve been involved with, I distinctly remember how each way made me feel.

In some projects, it felt like a minority of the people were pulling the weight. In such cases, I felt very discontent because I never knew what I could trust people to do.

However, in others, everyone worked together and I would feel very content. My contentment was correlated to the amount of trust I had in other people to do what they said they would.

Contentment is something that we desire to have, but often seek in the wrong places.

Proverbs 19:23 says contentment comes from the fear of the Lord. When I recognize who my God is and put my trust in Him, I can find contentment. Often, I am discontent because I haven’t put my trust in Him.

Sometimes I try to take on too much and don’t trust God with His side of things. Sometimes I miss out on the blessing of contentment because I am focused on my problems instead of the life that He has given me through Jesus.

This verse promises that if we fear God, we receive life and then contentment comes. Contentment flows not from our present situation, but from our future one of eternal life in Christ.
