Bible verses about
Success

Jesus is my guide for my success. Like Jesus, my success is not measured in money or power, but in reflecting God’s character to the world. I practice Christ’s golden rule: “Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you” (Matthew 7:12 NLT).

When I faithfully work hard and embrace my God-given creativity, I can fearlessly try new things. As God blesses my efforts, I will share the blessings of my success with others.

Honing my God-given skills brings success

Ecclesiastes 10:10

If the axe is blunt, and one doesn’t sharpen the edge, then he must use more strength; but skill brings success.

My success depends upon staying the course and following where God leads

Joshua 1:7

Only be strong and very courageous. Be careful to observe to do according to all the law which Moses my servant commanded you. Don’t turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go.

I must never forget that any success I enjoy comes from God

Deuteronomy 8:11-14; 17-18

Beware lest you forget the LORD your God, in not keeping his commandments, his ordinances, and his statutes, which I command you today; lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built fine houses and lived in them; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; then your heart might be lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. And lest you say in your heart, “My power and the might of my hand has gotten me this wealth.” But you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he swore to your fathers, as it is today.

My success depends upon involving God in my plans

Proverbs 16:3

Commit your deeds to the LORD, and your plans shall succeed.

When God is with me, my success blesses all who are near me

Genesis 39:2-6

The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man. He was in the house of his master the Egyptian. His master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did prosper in his hand. Joseph found favor in his sight. He ministered to him, and Potiphar made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand. From the time that he made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake. The LORD’s blessing was on all that he had, in the house and in the field. He left all that he had in Joseph’s hand. He didn’t concern himself with anything, except for the food which he ate. Joseph was well-built and handsome.

My success comes from wholeheartedly following God

Deuteronomy 30:9-19

The LORD your God will make you prosperous in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, in the fruit of your livestock, and in the fruit of your ground, for good; for the LORD will again rejoice over you for good, as he rejoiced over your fathers, if you will obey the LORD your God’s voice, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law; if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. For this commandment which I command you today is not too hard for you or too distant. It is not in heaven, that you should say, “Who will go up for us to heaven, bring it to us, and proclaim it to us, that we may do it?” Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, “Who will go over the sea for us, bring it to us, and proclaim it to us, that we may do it?” But the word is very near to you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. Behold, I have set before you today life and prosperity, and death and evil. For I command you today to love the LORD your God, to walk in his ways and to keep his commandments, his statutes, and his ordinances, that you may live and multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the land where you go in to possess it. But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away and worship other gods, and serve them, I declare to you today that you will surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you pass over the Jordan to go in to possess it. I call heaven and earth to witness against you today that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Therefore choose life, that you may live, you and your descendants.

My belief is the foundation of my success

2 Chronicles 20:20

They rose early in the morning and went out into the wilderness of Tekoa. As they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem! Believe in the LORD your God, so you will be established! Believe his prophets, so you will prosper.”

When I call on God and seek Him, He will listen to me; He plans great things for me

Jeremiah 29:11-13

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the LORD, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. You shall call on me, and you shall go and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You shall seek me and find me, when you search for me with all your heart.”

Success means more than having many possessions

Luke 12:16-23

He spoke a parable to them, saying, “The ground of a certain rich man produced abundantly. He reasoned within himself, saying, ‘What will I do, because I don’t have room to store my crops?’ He said, ‘This is what I will do. I will pull down my barns, build bigger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. I will tell my soul, “Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry.”’ But God said to him, ‘You foolish one, tonight your soul is required of you. The things which you have prepared — whose will they be?’ So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” He said to his disciples, “Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life, what you will eat, nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Life is more than food, and the body is more than clothing.”

Kindness and truth are as much a part of my success as education

Proverbs 3:1-4

My son, don’t forget my teaching; but let your heart keep my commandments: for length of days, and years of life, and peace, will they add to you. Don’t let kindness and truth forsake you. Bind them around your neck. Write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor, and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

Humility before God is vital to my success

James 4:10

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he will exalt you.

Any success I enjoy comes from God

2 Corinthians 3:4-5

Such confidence we have through Christ toward God, not that we are sufficient of ourselves, to account anything as from ourselves; but our sufficiency is from God.

Wisdom leads to success that surpasses wealth

Proverbs 8:12; 18-19

I, wisdom, have made prudence my dwelling. Find out knowledge and discretion. With me are riches, honor, enduring wealth, and prosperity. My fruit is better than gold, yes, than fine gold, my yield than choice silver.

An intimate knowledge of God’s law is essential to my success

Joshua 1:8

This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success.

I must be careful to keep my desire for success in perspective

Matthew 16:26

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life?
