For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.
Have you ever been expected to do something in spite of the fact that you didn’t have the tools necessary for the job?
Perhaps you weren’t even instructed on how to properly do the task you’d been given to do. Not only is such a situation extremely stressful and unfair, but it can also be dangerous, leading to serious breakdowns that have far-reaching consequences.
Though God invites us to partner with Him — often asking us to do things that seem impossible — He never asks us to do anything on our own. With Him all things are possible (Matthew 19:26).
He doesn’t tell us to run from the devil without giving us a place to run to. He doesn’t tell us to resist temptation without giving us a way to say “no.” God doesn’t issue commands and set expectations for us without telling us what they are. He never abandons us or sets us up for failure.
Those of us who have accepted Jesus as Savior have the power of the Holy Spirit living in us to guide, encourage, and protect us.
As you read and study God’s Word, discovering what His plan is for your life, remind yourself: I’ve got the power!
Who do I know that suffers from a spirit of fear? What can I do to introduce God’s power into their life?
Dear God, Thank You for Your Spirit. Please make me more conscious of Jesus’ presence and the power I have because of Him. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
