Jesus therefore said to them again, “Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.”
You are a missionary!
We generally think of missionaries as people who leave their home, family, and all their worldly possessions behind to live in remote parts of the world so they can teach others about Jesus. And that is correct. Many missionaries do so. But this isn’t the only type of mission work there is.
You, too, are a missionary.
Just before He returned to heaven, Jesus instructed each of us to go into all the world. The word “all” includes your neighborhood, the people you work with, the person who grooms your dog, your child’s soccer coach, the old man behind the counter at the dry cleaners, the kid behind the fast-food counter who is only there for the money, and everyone else with whom you come in contact.
We are all missionaries — called to use our talents and abilities to show the world the love and hope Jesus brings.
You may be the only Jesus some people ever see, so make sure you paint Him in the most perfect light possible.
With whom can I share Jesus this week? I will make a list of at least three people and do something intentional to let them know Jesus loves them.
Holy God, Please train my eyes to see the world around me as my mission field. Fill me with Your peace. Please give me the hands, feet, heart, and mind to be a Gospel-sharer with those I meet. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
