He said with a loud voice, “Fear the Lord, and give him glory; for the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heaven, the earth, the sea, and the springs of waters!”
In a court of law, there are some important people. There is the prosecuting attorney, the defense attorney, the defendant, and the judge. Of all these people, the judge has the final word on any ruling and also makes sure both sides get a fair hearing.
In our verse, it talks about the final judgment. In this courtroom, we are the defendant and Satan is the prosecuting attorney. All the sins that we have ever committed will be brought it. Every time we lied, overate, lusted, coveted, swore, dishonored our parents, and hated will be shown. Satan will demand the death sentence because, for even one instance of sin, the penalty is death. The case looks hopeless for you. Unless you know the Judge.
Jesus is the Judge. He is the one who presides and makes the final verdict. If you have repented of your sins and accepted Jesus into your heart, Jesus is also your defense attorney. He has one and only one defense. He takes the long list of sins listed under your name. Jesus takes His own blood and signs His name over your sins. Jesus, as the Judge, pronounces you innocent, bangs the gavel, and lets you enter into Heaven.
Jesus wants to be your defense attorney. He wants to write over all your sins with His own perfect life. He wants to be your ticket to heaven. Won’t you let Him, today?
Jesus, thank You for dying for me, for trading my sinful life with Your sinless life. Please, come into my heart and live forever in me. In Your Name, I pray, Amen.
