Be Still

by Darla Noble

Psalm 37:7

Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him. Don’t fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who makes wicked plots happen.

“Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for Him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes” (Psalm 37:7 NLT).

Be still.

Be still. Listen to your heart beating. Listen to the soft sounds of your breath inhaling and exhaling.

Be still. Listen to the sounds of children laughing, talking, asking questions.

Be still. Hear the wind in the leaves… birds singing… dogs barking… wind chimes… insects….

Be still. Listen with your eyes to the love between you and your mate, between you and your friends, between you and your children. See the miracle of life in a newborn baby. Recognize the imagination and creativity of God the Creator when you look at the different plants, flowers, or even the variety of produce in the market.

Be still. Listen for God to speak to you in all these things.

Be still. Listen for God’s prompting to be the person He created you to be.

Be still and know that God is ever-present and always loving.

As you go through your day today, be still and listen for God along the way.

Reflection

What can I do to remove some of the noise and chaos from my life to make it easier for me to listen to God?

Prayer

Dear Lord, To You I give all my anxiety, anger, and stress. Please take them far from me. I don’t want them to burden me any longer. Help me to hear Your voice guiding me in the path You have planned. Thanks to You, I have no need to worry. I bless Your holy name. Amen.
