Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes. Stop being angry! Turn from your rage! Do not lose your temper–it only leads to harm. For the wicked will be destroyed, but those who trust in the LORD will possess the land.
Psalm 37:7-9 (NLT)
Be still. Be very still. Listen to your heart beating. Listen to the soft sounds of your breath inhaling and exhaling. Be still. Listen to the sounds of children laughing, talking, asking questions. Be still listen to the sounds of the wind in the leaves, the birds singing, the dogs barking, the wind chimes on your patio ‘playing their tune’.
Be still. Listen with your eyes to the love between you and your mate and you and your children. Listen with your eyes to the miracle of life in a newborn baby. Listen with your eyes to the imagination and creativity of God the Creator when you look at the different plants, flowers, or even the variety of produce in the market.
Be still. Listen for God to speak to you in all these things.
Be still. Listen for God’s prompting to be the person He created you to be.
Be still and know that God is ever-present and always loving.
Challenge: Take a walk today and listen for God along the way.
