As an author, I love talking to people, hearing their stories, hearing how something I wrote helped them or made them laugh, and sharing with them why I write what I write.

I especially enjoy seeing the expression on many people’s face when I explain that being called God’s sheep or lamb is something to which He wants us to aspire, and not an insult. Often, they look puzzled because they don’t realize that a sheep’s character is the character God desires in us.

What makes these conversations even more special is that I have no idea where these people are in their relationship with God — or if they even have one.

It’s possible that a few of the people I’ve shared with have no idea they are sinners in need of a Savior, or that Jesus, who is that Savior, loves them more than they can imagine.

I don’t know what happens once we part ways, but what I do know is that I’m doing what I can to let people know Jesus loves them and that He wants to be their shepherd — He wants to shepherd you and me — now and forever.
