The Great Confession

John 6:67-69
Jesus said therefore to the twelve, “You don’t also want to go away, do you?” Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and know that you are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Many great inventors failed before succeeding.
Albert Einstein failed the college entrance exam! Henry Ford failed twice before designing and building an automobile that actually worked. Sir James Dyson, of vacuum cleaner fame, failed numerous times to get his concept to actually work.
So what do all of these people have in common? And what do they have to do with Jesus being God’s Son and the Savior of humanity? In a word: belief.
These men believed in themselves and their abilities and ideas when no one else did. In the same way, we must believe in God even when the people around us don’t. Even when people try to convince us God isn’t real.
The Bible contains God’s words of instruction, hope, encouragement, and the promise of eternal life. From Genesis to Revelation, it clearly illustrates that Jesus is the only Son of the Most High God, sent to earth to save us from our sins.
“Taste and see that the Lord is good!” (Psalm 34:8). God challenges us to see what He has to offer.
No matter what anyone else says, or where they try to lead you, always remember Jesus is the only path that will lead you to God and your eternal home in heaven.
Reflection
Am I guilty of going off in other directions — directions leading away from Jesus? If I turn my back on Jesus, how will I answer Peter’s question: “to Whom will I go?”
Prayer
Dear God, Thank You for Jesus, the Christ, Your Son. Thank You for sending Him to save me — ME! May I never boast of anything but Jesus and His love. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
