Diamond in a Simple Parcel

by Pastor Ken and Joyverse

Ephesians 3:17-19

That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be strengthened to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and height and depth, and to know Christ’s love which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.

In January, 1905, Captain Frederick Wells, overseeing South Africa’s Premier Mine, discovered what has become known as the Cullinan Diamond — the biggest diamond in the world at the time. It was as big as a lemon, over 3,100 carats, and weighed about 1.3 pounds.

Detectives and armed guards were chartered to presumably deliver the precious rock to London. But when they arrived, they opened the box to find only a piece of coal inside.

The diamond, however, was fine. A few days later, the postman delivered it in a plain box marked “parcel post.”

Jesus could easily be compared to the precious diamond. Instead of being delivered in a flurry of pomp and circumstance, He came as a humble son of a carpenter — in a simple parcel, so to speak. Yet inside was the priceless treasure of God’s love.

If you allow yourself to be rooted in God’s love, it will keep you safe and strong. You will have the privilege and power of knowing how vast His love is. You will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God. You will be the temple of the living God and He will be your father and your friend.

Reflection

How can I experience Christ’s love on a greater level?

Prayer

Dear Lord, Please live within me and fill me with Your love. Strengthen my faith. Let me begin to comprehend Your boundless love. In the priceless name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
