Always rejoice. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus toward you.
The gospel of Luke tells the story of ten men suffering from leprosy: then an incurable, infectious disease.
These men were together because the nature of their condition meant they had to be segregated. They were untouchable, unclean.
Jesus healed all ten men with leprosy, but only one returned. When the man saw his clean body, he rushed back to Jesus to give thanks. And he praised and worshiped Him (Luke 17:11-19).
The other nine were never heard from again. They forgot to give thanks and praise God when they became clean from their disease.
For the Christian, every day is Thanksgiving Day. Let us be like the one who came to Jesus. Thank Him that He answers our prayers. Remember when He miraculously provided for a special need.
Never take for granted what God has done in our lives. Instead, we must have the same attitude that this one man had who came to thank Jesus.
If you think there is little in your own life to be thankful for, take a moment to look around and see how God has blessed you! God has poured out His explosive blessings in abundance.
If you are in a difficult time of your life, ask Christ who healed the ten men with leprosy to help you. Then give thanks for the great and marvelous things He has already done for you!
How can I have a thankful heart and live in an attitude of thanksgiving every day?
Heavenly Creator, Thank You for giving me so many blessings. Help me never to take Your miraculous love and grace for granted. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
