Don’t Worry, You’ll Be Okay

by Darla Noble

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

Right before they wheeled Granny into surgery to replace one of the valves in her heart, we gave each other a kiss.

“Don’t worry about me,” she said. “If something happens to me, remember: you’ll be fine. God is the one who has been taking care of you all these years. He’s not going to stop just because I’m gone.”

I’m happy to report Granny came through the surgery just fine and we enjoyed several more years together before Alzheimer’s slowly took her from me.

During those times, when we were struggling with the ugliness of her disease, her words came back to me time and time again. God was the one taking care of us and He wasn’t going to stop. Not ever.

There is nothing we can go through from which God cannot protect us. Nothing is too big or too evil for God to bring us out of. He is the One who has been taking care of you your whole life.

Remember that, and you’ll be fine.

Reflection

What fears and doubts do I need to turn over to God? I will take a few minutes right now to do so.

Prayer

Dear God, Thank You for always being close by, ready to protect me and give me strength and comfort. Give me the faith to depend on You every day — in good times and bad — so I will never doubt Your love. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
