Beloved, now we are children of God, and it is not yet revealed what we will be. But we know that, when he is revealed, we will be like him; for we will see him just as he is. Everyone who has this hope set on him purifies himself, even as he is pure.
1 John 3:2-3
In traveling around the world I’ve seen some amazing and beautiful places. I have a tendency, though, to imagine what I will see before I get there. Sometimes my imagination is not adequate—the place is even more amazing than I thought it would be. There have been times, though, that I have been disappointed. My imagination over-exaggerated what was really there. When this happens, I thank Jesus for the faith I have that my future in heaven will be far greater than anything I can imagine and for the promise He gave I will not be the least bit disappointed.
What about you? What do you think heaven will be like? Take a minute to think about what it will be like to be in the presence of Jesus. What do you see?
Whatever you see you can be sure that it will be perfect and fulfill our needs and desires. Think about it: He has been all I need so far and He will be all I need for eternity. I can hardly wait for the day I can see it for myself! That is why I want to live every day as if it is my last day because I want to be ready to see heaven’s glory.
Will you do the same? Will you live each day remembering what Jesus went through on the cross? Will you live each day remembering that He went through it all for you?
Pray: Father, help me remember the cross daily and to live in gratitude for what Jesus’ death means for me. Help me look forward to the joys of heaven and living in the presence of You and Your Son. In Jesus’ wonderful name, I pray, Amen.
