Beautiful News

Luke 18:16-17

Jesus summoned them, saying, “Allow the little children to come to me, and don’t hinder them, for God’s Kingdom belongs to such as these. Most certainly, I tell you, whoever doesn’t receive God’s Kingdom like a little child, he will in no way enter into it.”

When was the last time you had something good happen and reacted with the genuine joy and excitement of a child?

The people of Buliisa, Uganda, welcomed a new well with a spontaneous party! The day their borehole well was finally dug and set to pump clean water, families sang and waved their arms at the sky.

The three villages who would share this well were too poor to raise the building funds themselves. So Christian people from around the world gathered money to help and they sent it in Jesus’ name. The people of Buliisa heard the good news of Jesus through the life-giving gift of a deep water well.

Sharing Jesus’ love is more than words. It comes with healing blind eyes and strengthening paralyzed legs. It comes with eating dinner with outcasts and feeding crowds. God’s good news makes people smile, weep, hope, and rejoice. It betters lives, families, and villages. It breaks down walls of reservation and makes people smile, laugh, and love like little children. It is beautiful.

How did I react when I first heard God’s Good News? How have I presented that Good News to others?

Prayer

Creator God, Thank You for calling me Your child. May I always retain my childlike joy and wonder when I think of You. Please help me interact with Your other children — especially new believers — in a way that best reflects Your love. In Jesus’ holy name I pray, Amen.
