Let them praise his name in the dance! Let them sing praises to him with tambourine and harp! For the LORD takes pleasure in his people. He crowns the humble with salvation. Let the holy ones rejoice in honor. Let them sing for joy on their beds.
We all have different ways of expressing joy.
With some people, their joy is unmistakable. They beam with light. They may dance a jig when receiving good news. They draw you in with the energy and warmth of their glow.
Others are more subtle and less obvious in their joy. A small smile may meander across their face. Their eyes may widen a bit or perhaps glisten with the hint of a tear. They’re full of joy, but they carry it in a quieter way.
However you express it, don’t neglect the joy that comes from reflecting on the greatness and mercies of God. Whether it’s in church, with family or friends, whether it’s on a mountain trail or in the deep hours of the night: choose joy.
Joy cannot be forced. It cannot be faked. We can’t make ourselves joyful. But we can reflect on God’s goodness, His mercy, His wonders, His deep and overwhelming love for us. We can reflect on His provision and protection. And as we reflect God’s radiance, we then glow with the light of His praises.
Be filled with His joy. Reflect and glow.
How do I express my joy? What are some ways I can reflect more on the goodness of God? Today, how can I be more conscious of opportunities to praise Him?
Dear Lord, May every breath I take, every song I sing, and every leap of faith be an act of praise and worship. You are worthy of all honor and praise. May my worship always be pleasing to You, my God. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
