Not long ago, my family was given little hope that I would live through the night, but I did. Two weeks later, the doctors once again said there was nothing more they could do — it was up to God whether I lived or died.

I lived. Praise God!

I was told, however, that when this happens again, my body will not be able to fight back. It will fail.

Knowing that can sometimes make me a bit sad. There are many things I would like to see and experience with my husband, children, and grandchildren. But I can also honestly say I’m completely at peace with whatever God chooses to do — however much time He chooses to give me.

I know as the Psalmist said, that my days were numbered for me long before I was even born (Psalm 139:16). I also know that God’s ways and timing are perfect. I know that when my heart and flesh fail, my spirit will not. When Jesus comes again, I will live with God my Father, and Jesus my Savior for all eternity.

I pray you will let God give you His peace regarding life and death. Though our bodies may fail, I pray that our spirits never do.
