The Safest Place

by Darla Noble

Proverbs 18:10

The LORD’s name is a strong tower: the righteous run to him, and are safe.

When I was a child, seven or eight of us kids walked together from school each day.

One by one we arrived at our houses until only Rita and I were left to walk the final two blocks. Each of our houses had a sign in the front window that said, “A SAFE PARENT LIVES HERE.”

In spite of the fact that my friends and I knew each other’s moms and knew we would be safe in each other’s homes, there was an added element of comfort and security knowing we had a “strong tower” to run to if we needed it.

You have a safe place to run to as well — and all you have to do is call out to the Lord and ask Him for help. He is always there. He will never let you down. Not ever. He is ready, willing, and able to be your safe place in all ways, in all things, and at all times.

What are you afraid of? What temptations do you need to run from?

Call out to the Lord. Run to Him and ask Him to protect you and provide you with the strength to resist temptation.

Reflection

How do I treat the Lord’s name? Is it a source of power and a place of safety to me? Why or why not?

Prayer

Dear God, Creator. Savior. Loving Lord. Your name is a fortress of strength to me. When I call on You, I know You will answer. Thank You for inviting me to run to You. Thank You for opening Your arms and keeping me safe. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
