Therefore put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
The easiest enemy to defeat is the one who isn’t even aware he’s at war.
In the spiritual context, many people are unaware of the battles raging all around us. Some don’t believe in a spiritual reality. Some do believe in God, angels, and perhaps a devil, but they fail to regularly associate the events or circumstances of their lives as in any way related to the spiritual battle going on behind the scenes.
God has provided spiritual armor for His warriors (see 2 Corinthians 6:7 and Ephesians 6:10-13). Every believer receives and follows orders from our Commander.
To know His will for us, we must be well-read in God’s field manual, the Bible. We must be aware of the devil’s tactics and know how to respond to them.
Just as you put on clean clothes in the morning, you must put on the armor of God anew every day. That way, instead of becoming another casualty of war, you will be armed and ready to follow wherever God leads.
What are some specific ways I can put on the armor of God today and every day?
Dear God, Please clothe me in Your heavenly armor. Give me eyes to see clearly, and the spiritual discernment to respond to Your guidance in the battles I face. Thank You for Your unfailing love. You are my strength and my shield. In Jesus’ name I humbly pray, Amen.
