Trust God’s Promises

by Pastor Ken and Joyverse

2 Peter 1:4

By which he has granted to us his precious and exceedingly great promises; that through these you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.

The Bible contains hundreds of promises from God to humanity.

Some of them are given to a particular person at a particular moment in time. To be fully understood, they must be studied in the context in which they were given.

But many others are broad promises that our Heavenly Father makes to His beloved children.

Imagine: the Creator God who made everything loves you so much that He has declared some fundamental truths. If you keep His commands, He keeps His promises!

When you face difficult moments, pay special attention to God’s promises to His children. To those who confess their sins, He promises to be faithful and forgiving (1 John 1:9). He promises strength and vigor to those who hope in Him (Isaiah 40:31). He promises that those who mourn will be comforted (Matthew 5:4).

God’s promises are gifts that overflow from His loving heart.

So be patient. Endure life’s challenges with the full assurance that God intends to keep every single one of His promises recorded in the Bible. Draw near to God and He promises to draw near to you (James 4:8).

Reflection

What are some things for which I need patient endurance? I will claim God’s promise for endurance (Hebrews 10:35-36) for those things.

Prayer

Dear God, Thank You for Your promises and Your gifts. Help me not dishonor You when I ask for molehills where You have promised mountains. I love and trust You. Thank You for Your enduring faithfulness. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
