If pet ownership has taught me anything, it is how strong loyalty is to the source of provision and sustenance.

I have the cutest, most lovable pet ever created! Yet it isn’t hard to notice that she gravitates to her source of pleasure and fulfillment. Food, walks, drives, grooming and, of course, treats all speak her language of love!

Beyond her experience with me as her human “Mom,” I reunited her with her birth mother — her initial nurturer. I don’t think I imagined their attraction to each other. The birth bond is strong — their tie undeniable.

Without necessarily knowing that this is her “creator,” so to speak, she noticeably gravitated to her mother.

Parent privilege sinks deep into the heart.

It’s a relationship “patent” of sorts, stamped into the very core of every human soul.

Although I believe my pup is blessed with exceptional intelligence, she is only acting out what is normally (with unfortunate exceptions) in the human heart as well: a pull toward our birth parents and, ultimately, yearning for our divine parent, the Creator God.

Revelation 4:10-11 allows us to peek into the celestial realms where it’s clear that all of heaven wholeheartedly agrees! So, praise God and give Him the glory He so richly deserves.
