Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life.
Sometimes when I want to start one of those random, “let’s just talk” conversations with my husband, I’ll ask, "What’s on your heart?”
After almost forty years together, I know the answer is going to be a sigh and the words, “You are, honey.”
If you guessed he’s not a big talker, you guessed right. Nevertheless, I think it is a question we need to ask on a regular basis. And the person we need to be asking is ourselves.
We need to ask ourselves if we are ‘feeding’ our hearts a proper and healthy spiritual diet.
Are we feeding it violence, depravity, and greed by watching these things on television and in movies? Are we feeding it negativity and hatred by reading and watching only the news?
Or are we feeding it a steady diet of God’s Word to be able to process what is going on in the world in a Godly manner and act accordingly as His disciple?
Father in heaven,
Guard my heart.
Keep it clean.
Keep It pure.
Keep it filled with Your love, Your thoughts, and Your ways.
In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
