According to my earnest expectation and hope, that I will in no way be disappointed, but with all boldness, as always, now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life, or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Sin is death. Lust, pride, envy, gluttony, and sloth all are deserving of death. So why don’t we die when we do these things? Because Jesus died for our sins. We were death row inmates who were to properly be punished for our crimes. But in the last minute, Jesus comes and takes our place. We are set out on this life scot free. We can choose to live our lives anyway we want. We can end up right back in death row if we live in sin. Or we can take Jesus’ hand and walk His path.
Paul calls Christians to lift up Christ in all things, whether living or dying. Our life already belongs to Jesus, why not let Him use it? Why fear death? It means our struggle is over and the next thing we will see is Jesus coming in the clouds. Jesus is our All in All. He justifies us, purifies us, and sanctifies us. He gives us the power to overcome sin and gives us the means to help others overcome. Jesus knows what will fulfill us and make us truly happy and blessed.
Jesus wants to give you those things now, today. He wants to lead you away from a life leading to death and to a life leading to eternal pain free life. He wants to give you the strength to overcome, today. Won’t you let Him in?
Help me to live for You.
Come into my heart, cleanse it, purify it, and sanctify it. Give me the power to overcome sin and to help others overcome.
Lead me to Heaven, today.
In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
