Grace, Nurturing, and Salvation

by Pastor Ken and Joyverse

Luke 2:10-11

The angel said to them, “Don’t be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people. For there is born to you today, in David’s city, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

In today’s verse, Luke touches on three important themes of the Bible: God’s grace, Christian nurturing, and salvation.

God’s Grace

“Good news of great joy which will be to all people” extends the grace of God to all.

Grace is unmerited favor from God. God’s favor lasts a lifetime (Psalm 30:5). And God is gracious to the humble (Proverbs 3:34). From God’s abundance, we receive one blessing after another. His unfailing love and faithfulness come to us through Jesus Christ (John 1:16-17).

Christian Nurturing

“There is born to you this day.” God knows that newborn babies require nurturing to survive and grow. Likewise, born again Christians require nurturing in our faith. No Christian ever stops growing. There is always something more to learn about God and His love for us. No matter where we are in our faith journey, we need divine nurture to reach our full potential.

Salvation

“A Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Even as a newborn baby, Jesus was our Savior. He was “born to you.” He came to this earth, suffered rejection and indignity, and died a death of horror because He loved you so much He couldn’t imagine eternity without you.

Yes — every time the Bible speaks of the Good News of Jesus’ birth, it’s talking about you. Everything He ever did, He did for You.

Reflection

What changes can I make to better appreciate Jesus in my daily life?

Prayer

Dear Jesus, Thank You for being my only, blessed Savior. I accept Your sacrifice completely, without reservation. Fill me with Your Spirit and make me wholly Yours. In Your name I pray, Amen.
