Just Let Me Hang On For the Ride

by Darla Noble

Matthew 6:25-26

Therefore I tell you, don’t be anxious for your life: what you will eat, or what you will drink; nor yet for your body, what you will wear. Isn’t life more than food, and the body more than clothing? See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?

I was frustrated. Things I wanted weren’t showing up. Things I needed didn’t seem to be happening. God seemed lost and His help seemed distant.

I prayed, “Help me, God!”

As always when I don’t know what to do, I opened God’s Word.

I read Matthew 6:25-26. These verses changed my heart.

They helped me to stop worrying about whether or not I’d have enough food, money, and everything else to last me to the end of the month.

They helped me to stop worrying about my kids (well, most of the time, anyway). They reminded me I only needed to trust in God to take care of me.

Yes, God has blessed me abundantly. He has blessed you, too.

Do you sometimes feel low and think God does not care? This may be the moment that God is very close to you. Read today’s verses with full faith in Him.

Allow the following Bible promises to strengthen your faith:

  • God will supply every need of yours according to His riches (Philippians 4:19).

  • The Lord does not let the righteous go hungry (Proverbs 10:3).

Believe that God can, He does, and He will take great care of you always.

Reflection

Why do I worry about having enough when the Bible tells me I don’t need to?

Prayer

Dear Gracious God, Please help me to stop worrying. Instead, lead me to trust You fully. In Jesus’ precious name I pray, Amen.
