Like an Eagle

by Heather Tietz

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

You are not alone in this wide universe.

Though you’ve grown, you are not on your own. God is there. He has great plans for you. All He asks is that You follow Him for a lifetime of blessings.

He knows more than any counselor about your childhood memories, your addictions, and your secrets.

He is more able than any doctor to heal your disorders, your heartbreak, your aging body, your bouts with sickness, and your pains.

He is more capable than any other friend of pulling you from your pile of ruin; more adept at surrounding you with loving kindness.

He knows what you truly desire and what you truly need. He has good things wrapped up and stored away, waiting for the right time to deliver them.

Watch for His blessings. Wait on His timing.

Believe that He cares for you now and will care for your future, and the wrinkle will disappear from your forehead, the stress will dissipate from your body, the heaviness will lift from your heart.

The grouch in you will go. That childish comfort that used to tuck you in at night will return, along with peace, hope, and your youthful optimism. Your spirit will soar free.

Reflection

What makes me weary? What strength would I like to have renewed?

Prayer

Dear God, My heart overflows with praise. When I am weak and feel that I cannot go on, You strengthen me and give my spirit wings. Please give me the courage to follow wherever You lead. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
