“God saw fit to lay her to rest today until eternity.”

Today, my friend texted our prayer group those words. Her mother’s friend had passed away. We were praying for her recovery from a stroke. She had just given her life to Christ. She was on fire for God and wanted to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others.

She died because she was sick, but in heaven, her body will be whole. She may have died in poverty but in heaven, she’ll never want for anything.

The beauty of the Gospel is the promise of doing away with mortality and putting on immortality. What a blessed hope!

Death is an unwelcome guest in our fallen world, but for the person who has given their life to Christ, death becomes merely an interlude to a transformation. There’s no denying that death and grief are hard pills to swallow, especially when it’s a young single mother who dies unexpectedly after becoming a believer. But the hope that she died with will allow her to inherit eternal life. Her transformation awaits her.

As believers, we have hope that this mortal life will be swallowed up into immortality. One day, immortality will transform us.
