Different cultures celebrate birthdays in different ways.

The Vietnamese culture determines that the first birthday signifies the child is a member of the family. Praying for a bright future is part of the celebration.

Chinese culture considers the child one at birth and changes each year at the Chinese New Year. (It is much more complicated than I have presented it.) Both the Vietnamese and Chinese cultures have been influenced by Western traditions.

The prophet Jeremiah was born four miles north of Jerusalem in the Southern Kingdom of Judah He lived and prophesied during the reigns of the last five kings of Judah.

“Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you,” God told him, before He sent Him on a mission of ministry. “Before you were born, I sanctified you. I have appointed you a prophet to the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5 WEB).

No matter how or when you celebrate your birthday, God knew you before you were born or even conceived. He has plans for you. You are called to something God wants you to do!
