Do you know someone who seems to have everything: fancy vehicles, motorcycles, boats, jet skis and much more, yet all they talk about is getting more? Satisfaction seems short-lived in some people’s lives.

Filling a void with worldly possessions is virtually impossible. The importance of what we have is quickly put aside with the dream of something else. Our thoughts are full of the next best thing that will never satisfy us.

Placing priorities on materialistic items that the world puts before our noses leads to what I call the “I syndrome”: “I have this” quickly becomes “I want this” and “I need that.”

We are never satisfied. There is a void we cannot fill, no matter how hard we try. That void is a special place in our hearts that can only be filled with God’s direction.

My life changes when I let God fill the void of things I search for. Priorities change. That next best thing does not seem that important anymore. I now look at my worldly possessions in an entirely different way. I start using what I have to serve the God that is more important than my stuff.

Seeking God fills the void and gives me new life — a life that is now full of promises of joy, peace, hope, and love.
