Behold, two blind men sitting by the road, when they heard that Jesus was passing by, cried out, “Lord, have mercy on us, you son of David!” The multitude rebuked them, telling them that they should be quiet, but they cried out even more, “Lord, have mercy on us, you son of David!”
Angela and Cliff’s home was nearly paid off. Life was good… they thought.
But alcohol started to tear away at their lives. Cliff’s health failed. Their home was lost. Turning to methamphetamines, they tried to drown out the pain.
But life just worsened. Evicted, a motel became their home. One day, Angela, too high to recognize herself in a mirror, cried out. “Jesus! Help me! I can’t help myself!”
Jesus did.
He always does.
Whether the request comes from an addict, a wayward child, a thief or an outcast, a penniless patient or a medical mystery, or someone bound by Satan himself, Jesus never turns down a plea for salvation. Nothing is ever beyond His power or His care.
Angela and Cliff slowly began putting their troubles into God’s care. They turned to a local food pantry at a church, and began accepting the food, friends and prayers there. After a year, they finally made their way inside, and were baptized.
Their empty hands began to fill, along with their empathy, know-how, and connections.
God’s abundance of grace in them birthed their ministry, Angels Over Cliffs. Today, with thousands of followers, they work like the early church, fitting the local impoverished with Christians who want to bless… and finally, they are blessed!
What circumstance in my life needs me to cry out to God for His help?
Dear Lord, What a good God You are to care about my cries! Please remind me to make You the first one I go to for help. You hear and You save! Thank You Jesus, Amen.
