At my childhood home in Virginia, we had a garden that constantly changed.

Once, we built a small wood pergola in one section of the garden and grew wisteria flowers at the base of it. Wisteria is a climbing vine flower, so over a couple of years, this wisteria climbed up the side of the pergola and across part of the top of it. It started out small, but as it grew and climbed it got to a point where it was hard to differentiate the vines and the branches, as it was all flourishing.

In John 15:1, 5, Jesus says that He is the true vine and that we are the branches. The vine is the life source for the branches so the branches can produce fruit or flowers.

When we choose to remain in Jesus, we continually receive life from Him and we grow in our spiritual walk. As we grow, we begin to produce the fruit of a heart connected and surrendered to God. We love God and learn more about Him. We love those around us. Just as when the wisteria flower flourishes, making it difficult to tell the branches from the vine, as we grow in Christ, we too begin to reflect the true vine more and more.
