From the beauties of nature to Jesus’ incomparable sacrifice on our behalf, our loving God has showered so many gifts on His children. Generous giving is part of God’s character. That is why I joyfully offer my gifts of money, time, and talents to Him. My offerings build God’s kingdom and draw me closer to Him.

What I give directly affects what I receive

Proverbs 28:27

One who gives to the poor has no lack; but one who closes his eyes will have many curses.

I willingly give according to what I wish to receive from God

2 Corinthians 9:6-7

Remember this: he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly. He who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Let each man give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Willingly giving to God is cause for rejoicing

1 Chronicles 29:9

Then the people rejoiced, because they offered willingly, because with a perfect heart they offered willingly to the LORD; and David the king also rejoiced with great joy.

What I give affects what I receive from God

Luke 6:38

Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be given to you. For with the same measure you measure it will be measured back to you.

My offerings flow from the blessings of God

Deuteronomy 16:17

Every man shall give as he is able, according to the LORD your God’s blessing which he has given you.

My body is an offering to God

Romans 12:1

Therefore I urge you, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service.

Failing to give offerings robs God and calls down His curses

Malachi 3:8-9

Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me! But you say, “How have we robbed you?” In tithes and offerings. You are cursed with the curse; for you rob me, even this whole nation.

My gifts to God are an investment in my eternal future

Luke 12:33-34

Sell that which you have, and give gifts to the needy. Make for yourselves purses which don’t grow old, a treasure in the heavens that doesn’t fail, where no thief approaches, neither moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

My offerings glorify God

Psalm 96:8

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to his name. Bring an offering, and come into his courts.

Hebrews 13:16

But don’t forget to be doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

Honor the LORD with your substance, with the first fruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.
