“The LORD doesn’t fail,” the prophet Zephaniah says, “but the unjust know no shame” (Zephaniah 3:5 WEB). From the beginning books of the Bible to Revelation, the writers recognized their need for a powerful God to effectively deal with the injustice in the world.
“Justice is turned away backward, and righteousness stands far away… The LORD saw it and it displeased Him that there was no justice,” Isaiah says (Isaiah 59:14-15 WEB).
Praise God for His infinite mercy! He sent Jesus, who not only brings us salvation (Isaiah 59:16), but who also promises to repay the unjust for what they have done (Isaiah 59:18).
Injustice is a form of unrighteousness
You shall do no injustice in judgment. You shall not be partial to the poor, nor show favoritism to the great; but you shall judge your neighbor in righteousness.
Faithful Christian witnessing may be a magnet for unjust accusations
They ought to have been here before you, and to make accusation, if they had anything against me. Or else let these men themselves say what injustice they found in me when I stood before the council, unless it is for this one thing that I cried standing among them, “Concerning the resurrection of the dead I am being judged before you today!”
God is the refuge of those who suffer injustice
But as for me, I would seek God. I would commit my cause to God, who does great things that can’t be fathomed, marvelous things without number. So the poor has hope, and injustice shuts her mouth.
Pray for the unjust and for abusers
But I tell you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and the unjust.
God is my Defender against injustice
Hide me from the conspiracy of the wicked, from the noisy crowd of the ones doing evil. They plot injustice, saying, “We have made a perfect plan!” Surely man’s mind and heart are cunning. But God will shoot at them. They will be suddenly struck down with an arrow.
God’s children who suffer injustice are held in high esteem
For it is commendable if someone endures pain, suffering unjustly, because of conscience toward God.
There is no injustice when God is present
Please return. Let there be no injustice. Yes, return again. My cause is righteous. Is there injustice on my tongue? Can’t my taste discern mischievous things?
Staying silent in the face of oppression is a form of injustice
Do you indeed speak righteousness, silent ones? Do you judge blamelessly, you sons of men? No, in your heart you plot injustice. You measure out the violence of your hands in the earth.
God promises to punish the unjust
Woe to him who builds his house by unrighteousness, and his rooms by injustice; who uses his neighbor’s service without wages, and doesn’t give him his hire. But your eyes and your heart are only for your covetousness, for shedding innocent blood, for oppression, and for doing violence.
Injustice is the root of poverty
An abundance of food is in poor people’s fields, but injustice sweeps it away.
Do not use injustice to gain prosperity
Better is a little with righteousness, than great revenues with injustice.
God will hold the unjust accountable for their sins
He who acts unjustly, let him act unjustly still. He who is filthy, let him be filthy still. He who is righteous, let him do righteousness still. He who is holy, let him be holy still. Behold, I come quickly. My reward is with me, to repay to each man according to his work.
