10 Life Lessons I Learn From Jesus

I love Jesus’ invitation to “learn from me” (Matthew 11:29) because Christ teaches me so many important life lessons.
I can apply these lessons today so that I may have real satisfaction, joy, and success.
I learn the willingness to go beyond what is required
Matthew 5:40-42
If anyone sues you to take away your coat, let him have your cloak also. Whoever compels you to go one mile, go with him two. Give to him who asks you, and don’t turn away him who desires to borrow from you.
I learn to be careful what I say
Matthew 12:37
For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.
I learn that following the Golden Rule is the best secret of life’s success
Matthew 7:12
Therefore whatever you desire for men to do to you, you shall also do to them; for this is the law and the prophets.
I learn to forgive others countless times, as Jesus does to me
Matthew 18:21-22
Then Peter came and said to him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I don’t tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven.”
I learn that I cannot please everybody; sometimes, I have to move on
Mark 6:11
Whoever will not receive you nor hear you, as you depart from there, shake off the dust that is under your feet for a testimony against them. Assuredly, I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!
I learn that I can know a person’s character by their actions
Matthew 7:17-20
Even so, every good tree produces good fruit, but the corrupt tree produces evil fruit. A good tree can’t produce evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree produce good fruit. Every tree that doesn’t grow good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
I learn that when I pray to God, He will surely answer my prayers
Matthew 7:7-8
Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.
I learn to be persistent
Luke 11:5-8
He said to them, “Which of you, if you go to a friend at midnight, and tell him, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread, for a friend of mine has come to me from a journey, and I have nothing to set before him,’ and he from within will answer and say, ‘Don’t bother me. The door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I can’t get up and give it to you’? I tell you, although he will not rise and give it to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence, he will get up and give him as many as he needs.”
I learn that God allows trials and challenges which are vital to my growth
John 15:2
Every branch in me that doesn’t bear fruit, he takes away. Every branch that bears fruit, he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
I learn that Jesus became a human and lived here on Earth with us
John 1:14
The Word became flesh, and lived among us. We saw his glory, such glory as of the one and only Son of the Father, full of grace and truth.
