In pursuit of a scientific discovery, he locked himself inside of his science lab for a week until he could find more uses for the peanut.

George Washington Carver was no stranger to obstacles. As a former slave, he had to overcome discrimination to become a scientist. Now he was on a quest to help sharecroppers through peanut/cotton crop rotation.

Carver’s methods allowed poor Southern farmers to yield large cotton crops, but now they were complaining about the surplus of rotting peanuts.

Carver was determined to find a solution. He became an innovator, creating 300 products from a peanut, such as paste, paper, soaps, lotions, laxatives, and flour. His dedication serves as a lesson for us in our pursuit of God.

As believers, we must eagerly seek God. Just like Carver closed himself off to the outside world to discover new uses for the peanut, we must be intentional and focused in our pursuit of God. Our eagerness to find God is the key that unlocks a deeper relationship with Him, allowing Him to reveal Himself to us.

God longs for a relationship bathed in a heart longing for more. He promises that if we eagerly seek Him, we’ll find Him, like an intentional scientist who makes ground-breaking discoveries.
