My Heritage

by Pastor Ken

Psalm 61:5

For you, God, have heard my vows. You have given me the heritage of those who fear your name.

“You are the most beautiful to Me.”

Early one morning, I found myself in a place where I felt God saying those words to me.

The sun rose and shone on the peaceful lake before me. Birdsong filled the nearby trees.

I imagined the One who made all this beauty. I also understood that Jesus had been with me all my life and had blessed me abundantly.

The feeling of that morning continues to inspire me. My heart feels great appreciation of what God has done through countless angel-like people. And I pray that He uses me to encourage others.

When I consider all my overflowing gratefulness toward God and toward the people who helped me when I needed them, I renew my vow to serve God. I ask Him to let me live my life from now on only for His glory.

He hears me and He answers. Then He inspires me with so much encouragement to face any future — no matter how uncertain. He also promises me the heritage of those who fear His name.

He promises the same to you. You are the most beautiful to Him. You are His child. Through faith in Jesus, we are joint heirs of all the eternal riches of the heavenly Father.

Reflection

What marvelous things does God give me as His son or daughter?

Prayer

Dear God, Thank You for seeing the beauty in me, Your child and Your creation, even when others may not. Thank You for grace and for Your promise of a glorious inheritance. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
