“For the mountains may depart, and the hills be removed, but my loving kindness will not depart from you, and my covenant of peace will not be removed,” says the LORD who has mercy on you.
In recent years, our world has experienced a significant increase of many devastating natural disasters.
Huge hurricanes and floods washed away entire towns. Tornadoes and typhoons killed thousands. Mudslides killed thousands more. And wildfires burned huge swatches of destruction. People would evacuate their homes with a few possessions and come back to find nothing but rubble.
Diseases once considered eradicated have resurfaced, spreading fear and panic as innocents die. Climate change, melting ice caps, drought, and rising seas have caused entire species of animals that once shared our planet to become extinct.
Today’s verse offers the promise of love through out all these things. Though the floods come, the fires burn, and the mountains themselves split up and explode, God’s love for us still stands. His covenant for our peace assures us that God is in control.
When disaster strikes, remember God’s love for you. Everything on this Earth is temporary. But God’s love is eternal. Put your trust in Him and rest in His peace.
What are some disasters that have happened in my life? How did God pull me through them?
Dear Lord, Thank You for loving me through every challenge and disaster in my life. I know that no matter what challenges I face here on Earth, Your grace and love are always with me. I will praise Your name forever. Amen.
