That you shall say, ‘It is the sacrifice of the LORD’s Passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when He struck the Egyptians, and spared our houses.‘ The people bowed their heads and worshiped.
Can you imagine what it would have been like to be in Egypt on the night of the first Passover? God’s angel was killing every family’s first-born son unless the blood of the lamb was ‘painted’ on the door post. As the night went on can you imagine the awful sound of the mournful cries of parents grieving the deaths of these children?
Those cries came only from the homes of the Egyptians, though. The blood on the doorposts of the homes of the Israelites saved the lives of their first-born children. That blood was the symbol of Jesus’ blood—the blood that ran down the timbers of the cross for YOU and ME. His blood was the sacrifice for the forgiveness of OUR sin; giving us the hope for eternity in Heaven with the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Thank You for the blood of You shed on the cross.
Thank You that You washed me from my sins by Your blood.
I have hope for an Eternal Home with You.
In Your Name, I pray, Amen.
