Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin will conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
The name Immanuel is an Old Testament name given to Jesus. It means “God with us.” But what is the significance of the name “Immanuel?”
1. God is Always with You (Genesis 28:15)
“I will live among you, and I will not despise you. I will walk among you; I will be your God, and you will be my people” (Leviticus 26:11-12).
2. Jesus Christ Is Always with You
Jesus said, “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20 NLT).
3. The Holy Spirit Is Always with You
The Holy Spirit is God’s presence in the life of those who are saved. The Spirit leads us into all truth.
“The world cannot receive Him, because people do not look for Him and do not recognize Him. But you know Him because He lives with you now and later will be in you.” (John 14:17 NLT)
This is the Trinity. It is alive and well, now and forever more. God is with us!
How safe and secure does it make me feel to know the presence of God is always with me? What causes me to feel this way?
Dear God, Thank You for always being with me. Thank You for sending Your Son Jesus to sacrifice Himself for my sins. I long to have Your Spirit living in me, giving me a victorious life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
