Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.
The Israelites were free from the cruel bonds of slavery.
Through God’s love and intervention, Moses led them out of Egypt. The Egyptian army pursued the Israelites. The Israelites were out-armed and far less prepared to fight and defend themselves from the Egyptian military was coming after them.
You can imagine the fear and anxiety that devoured the hearts and minds of the Israelites when they looked back over their shoulders and saw the Egyptian army coming after them. What did Moses mean when he said they didn’t need to be afraid (Exodus 14:13)?
When Moses told the Israelites to stand still, he was telling them not to run away and hide like they wanted to do. He was saying them to stay where they were and let God take care of the situation—to let God fight the Egyptians for them in HIS way. Thankfully they listened to Moses and did they ever see God work!
The same holds for you and me to this very day. While it’s not likely God is going to part the waters for us to walk on dry land, He is ever-present in every situation just waiting and longing to fight for us. He is always ready, willing, and able to defend us against Satan.
When we’re on Team GOD, we’ll always win because God is the most powerful in the universe.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Help me be still and let You fight for me.
In Jesus’ Name, I pray, Amen.
